Team Manager, Operations Support. Auckland or Wellington
Te Haeata/The Opportunity
We're seeking two experienced Team Managers to join our Courts & Tribunals' Operations Support team.
Our team works with front line staff, the judiciary, and other parts of the Ministry to support how justice services are delivered to the public every day. We provide practical and timely operational advice on a range of policy and operational initiatives, support the Ministry's official correspondence responsibilities, and work with teams across the Ministry to drive operational change and improvements.
The Team Manager role offers an opportunity in a fast-paced environment to deliver important work that makes a real difference to the lives of New Zealanders.
As Team Manager, Operations Support, you will:
- Lead and support a team of advisors, setting clear priorities and maintaining delivery across BAU and project work
- Provide operational oversight and advice on national initiatives, system changes and emerging risks affecting court and tribunal operations
- Coordinate multi‑stakeholder work programmes, often under tight timeframes and competing demands
- Ensure high‑quality written advice, briefings and communications for senior leaders and external stakeholders, including official correspondence
- Build strong relationships across front line court and tribunal staff, the judiciary, policy teams, digital and other corporate teams, and regional leadership
- Support operational readiness and response to disruptive events (e.g. system changes, severe weather, national issues)
- Contribute to business planning, workforce management, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Foster a positive, inclusive team culture and provide effective people leadership that helps your team to grow and develop.

We're looking for someone who brings:
- Proven experience leading teams in a complex operational, policy or public‑sector environment
- Strong judgement and the ability to prioritise and make decisions in fast‑moving, ambiguous settings
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to brief senior leaders clearly and succinctly
- Confidence building relationships across diverse stakeholder groups, including senior leaders
- A calm, structured approach to managing risk, workload and competing priorities
- A people‑centred leadership style, with the ability to coach, develop and support others.

Utu ā-tau/Salary
The appointing salary for this role will be between $130,129 and $168,062 based on skills and experience.
