Senior Advisor, Property Procurement Team, Commercial Services – Wellington based
Te Haeata/The Opportunity
As a Senior Advisor, you are a key team member of the Property Procurement team that supports and enables the Ministry to realise its Business Plan priorities and outcomes.
You will lead a range of procurement and commercial activities, providing expert advice and support across a diverse programme of Property projects and priorities. You will also contribute to continuous improvement activities including procurement guidance and processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading end-to-end procurement processes primarily in the Property and Security portfolio.
- Provide commercial and procurement advice to internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop procurement strategies, tender documentation and managing sourcing activities.
- Facilitate procurement evaluations and lead contract negotiations.
- Supporting contract establishment and governance processes.
- Contributing to strategic procurement initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Proven experience leading procurement activities for construction, infrastructure, or property-related projects.
- Strong knowledge of common construction delivery models and contract forms, including NZS 3910, NZS 3916, CCCS, SFA, and Minor Works contracts.
- Understanding of the All-of-Government Consultancy Services Panel and its application within the public sector environment.
- Experience managing end-to-end sourcing processes, including tender development, evaluation, supplier engagement, and contract negotiations.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to provide pragmatic, risk-based advice.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- A natural ability to build trusted relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the New Zealand construction and property market, including current trends and industry challenges.
- A proactive mindset with a willingness to lead improvement initiatives and contribute to team success.This role would suit someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys variety, and is passionate about delivering quality procurement and commercial outcomes that enable successful delivery of the Ministry's business plan and outcomes.

Salary Range
The appointing salary for this role will be between $99,208 - $135,539, experience & transferrable skills will inform the offer.
