Service Lead: Clinical Advisors – Coronial Services Unit, Ministry of Justice

Permanent Part Time (0.5 FTE) 

Location - Auckland

This newly created Service Lead role is responsible for providing operational and business management support for the Clinical Advisor function within the Coroners Court. The role ensures the systems, processes, resources, and support structures are in place to enable the effective delivery of the clinical advisor service.

Working closely with the Chief Clinical Advisor and the SEECC Unit, the Service Lead will support the planning, coordination, management, and continuous improvement of the Clinical Advisor function. The role will lead the development and implementation of business processes and operational initiatives that enhance service quality, consistency, efficiency, and compliance.

The Service Lead is responsible for overseeing the implementation of key business functions within the team, including workforce planning, human resources, finance, information and knowledge management, information technology, and administration. They will provide trusted operational advice and support to the Chief Clinical Advisor, helping to ensure the function is responsive, sustainable, and well-positioned to meet service demands.

A key focus of the role is fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment. The Service Lead will build and maintain effective relationships across the Clinical Advisor team, the Coroners Court, and the wider Ministry, supporting strong stakeholder engagement and enabling the achievement of service objectives.

Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role you will have a tertiary qualification in an appropriate discipline (or equivalent experience), well-developed communication skills, and a good level of IT and financial literacy.

You will also need to demonstrate experience in the following:

• Providing business advice and operational support in a medium or large organisation.
• Designing and implementing business process improvements.
• Using performance information to inform decision-making. 
• Providing written reports and presentations to a high standard.
• Working in an environment where you are required to influence and respond to changing needs and priorities.
• Proficiency in the use of spreadsheets and systems (such as Excel) with an ability to analyse information, identify trends and make recommendations
• Knowledge of te reo and tikanga Māori and a commitment to further develop such knowledge.

Experience working within the health sector would be a distinct advantage, as would an understanding of public sector systems and processes.

Utu ā-tau/Salary

The appointing salary for this role will be between $99,208 to $127,683 (pro rata) based on skills and experience.
