Court Victim Advisor

Te Haeata/The Opportunity

This is a permanent, full-time position based at the Manukau District Court

It is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and adaptable person who has the necessary specialist knowledge, skills and experience to make a major contribution to assisting victims of crime through the court process.

You will make an enormous difference to victims through what you do. You will keep victims updated on the progress of their case and help them participate effectively in the Criminal Justice System.

The role requires you to demonstrate:

• Resilience when it comes to working with people
• A calm nature and an ability to relate to people
• Ability to enjoy the challenges of working with stakeholders and with victims who have been affected by serious crime, primarily family violence.

You will be part of the South Auckland team of Court Victim Advisors and will be based at the Manukau District Court.

Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience

We are looking for someone who reflects the local community we are serving and who can effectively assist Te Tāhū o te Ture in honouring our commitment to the people of Aotearoa. To be successful in this role, you will:

• Be a confident communicator with sound judgment.
• Have strong abilities in creating and maintaining effective relationships.
• Demonstrate multi-cultural awareness and competencies to be able to work with victims and their whanau who are from diverse backgrounds.
• Having a relevant tertiary qualification and/or experience in the family violence sector, is desirable.

Utu ā-tau/Salary

The remuneration band for this role is $74,634 to $100,846 – while the appointing salary will be based on skills and experience, we are willing to pay higher in the band to attract strong candidates into this role.
