District Court Scheduler – Manukau District Court (South Auckland Criminal)
Permanent, Full Time
Te Haeata/The Opportunity
If you thrive in a fast‑paced environment, enjoy solving complex puzzles, and want a role where your work genuinely matters, this is your chance to make a real impact in the justice system.
We're looking for a confident, proactive District Court Scheduler to join our South Auckland team, supporting the Manukau, Papakura, and Pukekohe District Courts. This is a role for someone who can bring order to complexity, keep operations moving, and help ensure people receive timely access to justice. You'll be at the heart of daily court activity — working with a wide range of people and making decisions that shape how our courts run.
Why this role matters
Every day, thousands of people rely on the courts — victims, defendants, families, lawyers, Police, and the Judiciary. Behind the scenes, it's the schedulers who ensure hearings happen smoothly, efficiently, and on time. In this role, you are the person who keeps the system flowing.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure a consistent and effective approach to scheduling cases across the JSA.
- Prioritise and schedule hearings in alignment with Ministry of Justice focus areas.
- Support reporting on key scheduling and performance priorities.
- Ensure appropriate volumes and types of work are scheduled.
- Optimise courtroom usage and judicial resource allocation.
- Promote consistent scheduling practices and effective use of technology.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of facilities and scheduling considerations for each court.
- Build strong working relationships with judiciary, registry staff, and stakeholders across multiple courts.

- Strong organisational skills and a love of problem‑solving in high‑pressure environments.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust with a wide range of people.
- Confidence working with data, systems, and technology.
- A proactive, improvement‑focused mindset — you don't just identify issues, you help resolve them.
- The ability to collaborate, influence, and stay calm in a dynamic environment.
- Experience with court processes (advantageous but not essential).
Nōu te rourou | What's in it for you?

- A supportive team environment with opportunities to develop specialist skills.
- The chance to work closely with the Judiciary and justice sector leaders.
