Te Au Reka - Improving access to justice for all New Zealanders
Te Au Reka represents the opportunity of a lifetime, making a profound difference to those who work in and interact with our courts and tribunals. We are seeking to modernise the administration of justice by replacing highly manual, time-consuming, paper-based process with a new digital case management solution, transforming the way people access and experience justice in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Te Au Reka is a large, complex and unique programme spanning the courts and tribunals of New Zealand. In delivering Te Au Reka we are seeking to build the Ministry's capability to deliver complex programmes of change. Working on Te Au Reka will give you the opportunity to use your knowledge and experience, while developing new ways of working. We are building a team that is highly collaborative, inquisitive and adaptable. Te Au Reka is a game-changer and we care deeply about making it a success.
Te Haeata/The Opportunity
We're seeking a Project Coordinator to join our programme team, supporting the Change and Engagement workstream.
This role is well suited to someone with a strong administrative background who enjoys bringing order, consistency, and follow through to busy environments.
You'll play a key role in keeping work moving by providing high quality administrative and coordination support. This includes managing meeting logistics and secretariat functions, preparing agendas and papers, taking minutes, tracking actions, and ensuring information is well organised and shared with the right people at the right time. Your work will provide the structure that enables the wider team to focus on delivering meaningful change.
This role is based in our Wellington office and requires a regular on‑site presence. Being office based is important for effective collaboration, relationship building, and supporting the day-to-day coordination needs of the programme.
This is a great opportunity for someone early in their coordination or project career. While the role has a strong administrative focus, you'll also gain exposure to programme delivery, change activity, and engagement work, with opportunities to build your capability and grow over time.
This role suits someone who is organised, detail focused, and reliable, enjoys supporting others, and is keen to learn and develop in a programme environment.
Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience
To be successful in this position you will have:
- Demonstrated experience providing administrative or coordination support in a project, programme, or busy office environment, ideally supporting multiple activities or workstreams.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail, able to manage competing priorities, follow processes, and ensure tasks are completed on time.
- A proactive and reliable approach, with the confidence to take ownership of actions, follow up with others, and escalate issues when needed.
- Well developed interpersonal skills, with experience working professionally with a range of people and supporting meetings or forums involving senior or formal participants.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing meeting materials, taking accurate minutes, tracking actions, and contributing to clear and concise reporting.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office products (particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams); experience with project or tracking tools such as MS Project or Azure DevOps would be beneficial but is not essential.
No candidate will meet every single desired qualification. If your experience looks a little different from what we have outlined and believe you can bring value to the role, we'd love to hear from you!
