Business Analyst – People Experience (1-year fixed term)

If this sounds like you, join the People Experience (PX) group at Te Tāhū o te Ture – Ministry of Justice and play a key role in strengthening how PX processes, information, and tools support our people.
This role sits within the Performance Remuneration and Programmes (PRP) team, which enables PX to deliver its work programme through strong analysis, performance insight, governance, and continuous improvement.
As a Business Analyst, for the 12 months you'll work across People Experience to deliver practical process improvement, strengthen information management practices, and support the delivery of business solutions that respond to current and emerging PX needs.
A significant focus of the role will be continuing the delivery of an established PX Process Optimisation Project, applying Lean Six Sigma (LSS) principles to analyse, document, and improve PX processes. You will also act as a SharePoint Site Owner for PX, supporting teams to apply good information and records management practices and improving how PX information is structured, accessed, and maintained.
In addition, you will support existing and new business requirements across PX, working closely with PX teams and collaborating with groups outside PX to help deliver fit‑for‑purpose solutions and tools that meet business needs.
This is a 1‑year fixed‑term opportunity, offering broad exposure across People Experience and the chance to make a tangible impact across a diverse and meaningful portfolio of work.

- Deliver practical process improvement and business analysis across People Experience.
- Apply Lean Six Sigma principles to improve PX processes through the PX Process Map Project.
- Act as a SharePoint Site Owner, supporting good information and records management practices.
- Support PX teams to deliver business solutions that meet current and emerging needs.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholder outside PX to shape and deliver fit‑for‑purpose outcomes.
Ō pūkenga | Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role you will:
- Proven experience in business analysis and/or process improvement roles.
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma or structured continuous improvement approaches.
- Confidence working with multiple stakeholders across different teams and disciplines.
- Self-driven and proactive, able to take ownership, remove blockers, and drive work forward with a continuous improvement lens.
- Strong analytical thinking, with the ability to turn insights into clear, practical advice.
- Experience working with SharePoint or similar collaboration tools (or the willingness to learn).
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts simply.

Utu ā-tau | Salary
The appointing salary for this role will be between $74,634 and $100,846 based on skills and experience.
