Te Haeata / The Opportunity
Te Au Reka is a once-in-a-generation programme modernising the administration of justice. We are delivering a nationwide digital case management service that strengthens access to justice, supports judicial decision making, and transforms how courts and tribunals operate. This Principal Advisor role sits within Programme Investment and Management, providing portfolio-level assurance leadership, strategic planning and high-quality advice to the Deputy Secretary and Te Au Reka Directors.
You will lead:
Portfolio assurance and programme management:
- Providing portfolio-wide assurance insights, synthesising risks, issues, dependencies and performance data across all workstreams.
- Leading strategic planning, reporting and response processes, ensuring high-quality briefs, reports, dashboards and governance materials.
- Maintaining and improving systems, templates and information governance across planning, reporting and official correspondence.
Deputy Secretary Office and business group activities:
- Producing high-quality drafts for ministerials, OIAs, Privacy Act requests and parliamentary questions.
- Preparing and coordinating documentation including performance information and corporate processes.
Programme workstream support:
- Leading assurance activities and preparing for internal and external reviews.
- Providing quality assurance, analysis and coordination across workstreams.
Ō Pūkenga / Skills and Experience
- Significant experience in risk, assurance or strategic advisory roles within complex public sector programmes.
- Strong understanding of public sector processes, machinery of government, ministerial/OIA requirements.
- Advanced analytical ability, able to synthesise complex qualitative and quantitative information.
- Experience working in digital or technology-enabled programme environments (desirable).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong relationship management skills, able to influence and build trust with senior leaders, judiciary and suppliers.

Utu ā-tau / Salary
The salary range for this role is $130,129 to $179,192. The appointing salary for this role is between $130,129 - $168,062, based on skills and experience.
