Court Victim Advisor

Te Haeata/The Opportunity

This is a permanent, full-time position based at the Whanganui District/High Court.

The commencement of this role is from 12 January 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and adaptable person who has the necessary specialist knowledge, skills, and experience to make a major contribution to assisting victims of crime through the court process.

You'll make an enormous difference to the victims through what you do. You will keep victims updated on the progress of their case and help them participate effectively in the criminal justice system.

The role requires you to demonstrate:

• Resilience when it comes to working with people
• A calm nature and an ability to relate to people of all walks of life
• Ability to enjoy the challenges of working with stakeholders and with victims who have been affected by serious crime.

You will be part of the Manawatu, Whanganui, Taranaki, Wairarapa team of
Court Victim Advisors and will be based at the Whanganui District/High Court. The position holder will be required to provide services to a number of courts within their cluster or region, including some travel where necessary.

Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience

We are looking for someone who reflects the local community we are serving and who can effectively assist Te Tāhū o te Ture in honouring our commitment to the people of Aotearoa. To be successful in this role, you will:

• Be a confident communicator with sound judgment
• Have strong abilities in creating and maintaining effective relationships
• Be a strong team player who can manage conflicting priorities and move from one task to another confidently and professionally, sometimes in challenging circumstances
• Have a relevant tertiary qualification and/or experience in the family violence sector is desirable

A full New Zealand Driver Licence is required.

Utu ā-tau/Salary

The remuneration band for this role is $73,634 to $100,846 – the appointing salary will be based on skills and experience.
