Join our dynamic team as a Data Infrastructure Engineer specialising in Oracle and SQL Server database administration and play a crucial role in shaping the future of modern, impactful digital services.
We are on the lookout for a seasoned professional with extensive technical expertise, especially in Database Management (SQ-Server & Oracle) and Data Engineering (Oracle Data Integrator) to provide operational support and administration for our heritage on-premise and cloud based databases and infrastructure.
The Data Infrastructure Engineer will be involved in the full lifecycle and management of our database and infrastructure services underpinning our business applications. This includes designing, building and maintaining the databases and infrastructure required for efficient data processing on scalable and reliable data platforms.
Reporting to the Manager - Platforms and Data Management Services, you will:
- combine technical and administrative experiences into motivating and inspiring themselves and other team members
- be able to work under broad direction that may often be self-initiated
- be responsible for meeting allocated technical and/or project/supervisory objectives
- establishing milestones and assignment of tasks and/or responsibilities within the Digital and Information Services team.
This is a permanent full-time position located within the Ministry of Justice National Office in Wellington.

Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience
This position is suitable for an experienced Microsoft SQL-Server and/or Oracle Database Administrator who can combine technical and administrative experiences into motivating and inspiring themselves and other team members. To be successful in the role, you will have the following:
- solid technical engineering and/or database administration skills backed by hands-on experience across a range of industry leading technologies
- significant experience with Oracle RAC architecture and Microsoft database administration procedures and best practice recommendations, specifically Microsoft SQL-Server, SSRS and SSIS and Oracle RDBMS 19x, 23x
- significant experience with Data Warehouse support and management, including data engineering best practice and principles, specifically including Oracle Golden Gate 19x and Oracle Data Integrator 12x.
- Experience across the full system delivery life cycle:
- Database Administration, including the design, creation, testing and documenting of new and amended technical components from supplied specifications in accordance with the Ministrys agreed development and security standards and processes.
- Systems design. To be able to provide specification and design of information systems to meet defined business needs. The identification of concepts and their translation into implementable design. The retention of compatibility of systems with enterprise and solution architectures, and the adherence to corporate standards within constraints of cost, security and maintainability
- Collaboration and communicating with a wide range of audiences on a range of complex issues.
- Have an understanding and appreciation of Tikanga Maori.
- Solid understanding of Agile and Development methodologies would be advantageous.

Utu ā-tau/Salary
The appointing salary for this role will be between $104,226 and $144,034 based on skills and experience.
