High Court Scheduler | Wellington High Court
Fulltime, fixed-term 6 months
Te Haeata/The Opportunity
The High Court Court Scheduler will ensure that the Ministry maintains a strong focus on prioritising and scheduling cases across the High Court jurisdictions. You will be responsible for scheduling hearings across multiple courts within the region (Nelson, Blenheim, Palmerston North, Whanganui, New Plymouth, Napier and Gisborne). This is an exciting opportunity offering engagement with great people across multiple courts!
The position will work closely with the Judicial Resource Manager for Wellington High Court to maintain court schedules and ensure the smooth daily operation of scheduling within courts. Being adaptable and having the ability to multi-task are key factors to succeed in this opportunity.
This position will also work closely with Court Registry Officers, Managers, Judicial officers, external stakeholders, and the District Court/High Court Judicial Resource Managers and the Regional Scheduling team. This collaboration will ensure national scheduling priorities are followed, the efficient prioritisation of cases and available hearing time is effectively utilised. This role directly contributes to efficient case flow management, improved court performance and the delivery of excellent customer service.
The High Court Scheduler will be responsible for the following:
- ensuring a consistent approach to scheduling cases
- prioritising and scheduling cases/hearings across the region
- ensuring that the appropriate type and volume of work is scheduled
- utilising the allocation of judicial resources efficiently, to meet expected workload
- lead in supporting and promoting consistent scheduling practices including the use of remote technology where appropriate
- maintain knowledge of facilities and scheduling issues for all court within the Wellington High Court region
- work collaboratively with judicial officers, judicial resource managers, registry staff and stakeholders across multiple courts.
Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience
We are looking for:
- experience of working in a scheduling or court operations position
- experience and ease with the use of the Court Management System
- experience with Microsoft Excel
- excellent relationship skills and a strong service-oriented ethic
- the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Utu ā-tau/Salary
The appointing salary for this role will be between $66,066 and $90,008 pro rata based on skills and experience.
