At the Ministry of Justice, our Resilience & Assurance team plays a key role in supporting robust privacy practices—maintaining the trust and confidence of both our staff and the public.
We're looking for a customer-focused, proactive, and collaborative Privacy Consultant to join our team. If you're enthusiastic, hardworking, and ready to contribute to meaningful privacy initiatives, we'd love to hear from you.
In this role, you'll support, monitor, and report on privacy-related practices and processes across the Ministry.
You'll work under the guidance of the Manager, Privacy & Resilience, and be part of a passionate and collaborative team that includes two Principals, two Senior Consultants, and two Junior Consultants.
As a Privacy Consultant, with the support of the Manager and Principals, you will:
- assess systems and processes that collect, handle, store, or share personal information.
- support the delivery of relevant privacy training and awareness to staff.
- monitor and manage privacy risks.
- prepare regular reporting on privacy breaches.
Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience
We are seeking someone who brings a mix of curiosity, professionalism, and a genuine interest in privacy.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- a tertiary qualification in any discipline, with a strong interest in developing expertise in privacy
- experience working in a large, or complex organisation—government experience is a plus
- the ability to build and sustain strong, collaborative relationships
- exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- strong analytical thinking skills, with the ability to assess information and make informed, logical decisions.

Utu ā-tau/Salary
The appointing salary for this role will be between $73,634 and $100,846 based on skills and experience.
