We are looking for someone keen to enthusiastically engage with a complex work programme, and who has a proactive attitude and relishes the challenge of working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, where no two days are the same.
You will provide a range of written and verbal advice that support, maintain and improve the planning, reporting and accountability functions of the Policy Group. You will work closely and collaboratively within and outside of the team to ensure timely information and advice is provided to support good decision-making, that enables the broader Policy Group to function efficiently and effectively.
You will also be involved in broader projects and initiatives that uplift culture and capability across the Policy Group. This role will give you the opportunity to engage directly with our senior leaders, and a range of internal stakeholders to ensure your advice is well informed and risk aware.
This will be a 12-month fixed-term contract.
He pūkenga tou/Skills and Experience
Critical to this role is demonstrated experience within a similar role, preferably in the public sector, the ability to provide high quality verbal and written advice to senior leaders and building and maintaining strong relationships across Policy and with key internal stakeholders.
You will bring:
- Familiarity with reporting processes within a Ministry and from a Ministry to other government agencies, including Minister's offices
- Demonstrated internal stakeholder engagement skills, ability to coordinate work across directorates
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly the ability to tailor complex messages and present recommendations to a wide range of audiences
- Previous experience in applying critical thinking and using sound judgement to develop options and provide advice
- Problem solving skills, patience, persistence, enthusiasm and desire to work and learn in fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Analytical skills with the ability to use data, and other key information to support robust recommendations.
- Have a flexible and adaptable approach to work and comfortable working in an environment of continuous improvement
This is a busy role with a clear pathway for progression and given the broad mandate for the team it is important that you are willing to lend your hand to the various pieces of work that arise and be able to understand the different priorities and adjust your work accordingly.
If you have relevant experience with public sector accountability processes, preparing briefings for senior leadership teams and co-ordinating Official Correspondence responses, you will come to work pumped in this role.

Utu ā-tau/Salary
The appointing salary for this role will be between $81,128 - $104,720 based on skills and experience.
