The Office of the Deputy Secretary, Strategy Governance and Finance is looking for a permanent full time Principal Advisor to join their small, highly engaged team at the Ministry of Justice.
We work strategically across the Strategy, Governance and Finance group to provide advice to the Deputy Secretary to ensure she is connected and informed on a wide range of strategic issues, priorities, and cross-group performance.
The Principal Advisor is a senior member of the team and provides analysis, advice, leadership, and helps to build capability of other advisors within the Deputy Secretary Office through coaching and mentoring.
He pūkenga tou/Skills and Experience
Our successful candidate will have a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent knowledge, and 5+ years government experience, preferably in the justice sector.
You will also:
- be able to demonstrate experience in relationship management, in particular engaging stakeholders and learning from their perspectives while challenging and influencing them
- get satisfaction from participating in a collaborative team and building capability of others through coaching and support
- have a successful track record of making things happen, and taking a systems perspective, seeing the bigger picture, and making links between different topics and areas of work
- pride yourself on your excellent written and oral communication skills, and a knack for presenting information in an accessible way and able to facilitate discussions about complex issues
- enjoy working as part of a team to solve problems and progress opportunities

Salary
The appointing salary for this role will be between $116,741 and $152,450 based on skills and experience.
