Are you interested in driving the Minsitry's response to climate change?
The Principal Advisor Sustainability is an exciting new role within the Property Strategy & Planning team.
In this role you will be responsible for leading, developing, influencing and delivering the Ministry's sustainability strategy.
As a sustainability leader you will be involved in projects and operational initiatives at local, regional and national scales, developing solutions for embedding sustainability into the Ministry. You will seek buy in and support from the senior leadership team to help influence organisational culture and support behavioural changes.
Reporting to the Manager Property Strategy & Planning, the Principal Advisor Sustainability will work closely with staff and functional leads across the Ministry to deliver an integrated sustainability strategy. Therefore, a provan ability to build strong relationships and to work collaboratively, with advanced interpersonal skills is a must.
He pūkenga tou/Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Good knowledge of sustainability (including climate change, environmental regeneration, embodied and operational carbon, Carbon Neutral Government Programme) with an understanding of the industry and the current issues that are being faced.
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience and a demonstrable commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Experience in managing, analysing, and reporting data sets and sustainability reporting processes.
- Competency in current benchmark techniques and statistical analysis.
- Ability to support the formation of client plans to achieve carbon neutrality or net zero.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate at senior levels of organisations.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
- 5+ years relevant sustainability experience.
- Experience of working in a complex multi-stakeholder environment that uses structured programme and project practices to plan and deliver change.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain a range of effective internal and external delivery relationships and networks.
- Relationship management demonstrated by establishment and maintenance of a range of effective business/operational management inter-relationships across business units and/or a network of professionals, managers, and external parties.
- Ability to demonstrate a strong customer focus
- An understanding of financial budgeting/planning and forecasting.
- Strong administration and written communication skills; report writing and development of proposals.
- Self- managing, can work independently and take the initiative.

Salary Range: The appointing salary for this role will be between $100,221 and $130,876 based on skills and experience.
