The Finance Manager's purpose is to be a trusted financial advisor to the Deputy Chief Executive for one or more business groups, providing dedicated financial and commercial leadership to the branch senior leadership team/s and business managers. You will lead a business partnering team that provides dedicated financial and commercial leadership.

You will lead a high performing team of finance professionals that strive to provide excellent financial services and are trusted, work collaboratively across the Ministry and provide advice beyond the numbers. Therefore, a proven ability to build strong relationships and to work collaboratively, with advanced interpersonal and well-developed political nous is a must.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A degree in business or management
- Proven success in leading, motivating and engaging teams with strong people management skills.
- Proven experience in financial management in a medium to large public sector
- Strong working knowledge of financial machinery of government
- Advanced strategic thinking ability, including demonstrable experience in applying commercial principles when developing business and financial management strategies to achieve effective organisational performance in large and complex organisations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills and the ability to articulate complex messages clearly, simply and concisely.
- A commitment to building Māori capability - both personally and within your team
- Full CA (or equivalent) preferred

The Finance Business Partners are split across two teams and support a range of portfolio's including the Ministry's operational services, including the courts, tribunals, legal aid, centralised national services and provider and community services, Te Arawhiti (Maori Crown Relations), Policy, Sector, Public Defence Service and Corporate functions that help the Ministry to operate smoothly. The teams are embedded within the business unit's they support, providing a key relationship and coordination point between the business and the overall Finance group.

Salary Range per annum: The appointing salary for this role will be between $139,662 and $182,382 based on skills and experience.
