- Lead the research agenda for justice
- Maintain the portfolio of evidence for justice
- Provide advice on what works for decision making
Sector Group is a multi-disciplinary team that brings together the best of strategy, policy, data analysis, research and evaluation capabilities to inform decision making by Justice agency leaders.
We support justice agencies to work together to deliver ambitious results, for a safe and just New Zealand.
Now is an exciting time for you to become a part of MOJ in the Sector Group as the insights and advice we provide are highly sought after, our work is characterised by innovation, quality and impact and we are informing the direction for justice agencies.
We are looking for a dynamic and innovative manager to lead the Ministry's research and evaluation team. The team drives the research agenda for justice, provides advice on what works and builds and maintains a portfolio of evidence for use by decision-makers.
You will be responsible for leading the ongoing development and delivery of the Research and Evaluation Team's work programme.
You will help shape the agenda for a ‘what works' knowledge base. You will ensure that the team's resources are effectively targeted towards the priority research and evaluation needs of the justice sector, and the Ministry of Justice.
You will need to be able to monitor and respond to changing needs – your challenge will be to deliver in the short term, while continuing to build longer term capability. As this is a small team there will also be an opportunity for you to contract or carry out research yourself.
To be successful you must be a passionate leader and possess substantial experience in:
- Managing multi-disciplinary teams
- Excellent understanding of research and evaluation methods and processes
- Communicating with a wide range of audiences on a range of complex issues
- Relationship management demonstrated by establishment and maintenance of a range of effective business/operational management inter-relationships across business units
- A tertiary degree in a relevant field.
The salary range for this position is $121,694-$164,644
