The Health, Safety and Security Group at the Ministry of Justice is growing. And we are looking for new Team Leaders for our Court Security teams.
Judges, staff, contractors, stakeholders and customers come through our Wellington District Court doors every day. Ensuring their safety is vital, and that's why we're looking for the right person with the right skills and proven leadership experience to join our Court Security management team.
You'll have a true customer service focus, be a great negotiator and the type of person who can relate to people from all walks of life. Whether you're calming a tense situation, assisting vulnerable court customers, leading and developing your staff or monitoring court activity, you will handle these roles with the utmost professionalism.
As a Court Security Team Leader you will lead a team that provides a reassuring and welcoming presence at our Courts.
We are seeking a proven people leader who can demonstrate knowledge and experience in:
- Coaching, mentoring and developing their team members to their full potential
- Operational management of teams in a complex and demanding security environment
- The ability to communicate appropriately with a diverse range of people
- Understanding operational risks and making sound decisions quickly, decisively and confidently.
As part of this role you will receive a full induction programme and training. The role does not involve shift work.
The expected starting salary for a Team Leader Court Security is between $55,495 and $65,287 - depending on the skills and experience that you bring to the role.
To be successful in this application you must have a level of fitness which enables you to be on your feet for much of the day and able to complete the physically demanding Control and Restraint training. You must possess a full clean NZ drivers licence and be legally entitled to work in a permanent role in NZ. Preferred candidates will be required to pass a medical and drug check.
