The Public Defence Service (PDS) is New Zealand’s largest criminal law practice, providing high quality legal advice and representation in a full range of criminal cases. Aimed at helping people access justice, the PDS promotes the values of respect, integrity, service and the delivery of excellent service to its clients.
We are looking for a Team Manager to lead our national Team Leader Office Administration (TLOA) team on a six month, fixed term basis. The TLOAs are based at the PDS offices around New Zealand so there will be some requirement to travel. This position can be based either in Auckland (Manukau) or Wellington.
The core focus of the role is to lead the team and ensure that each TLOA is maximising the resource they have to provide professional support to the PDS lawyers, and excellent customer service to our clients. There are opportunities to improve and streamline the Office Admin function, and the role is an important and valued member of the wider PDS management team.
To be successful in this role you will need to have:
• proven management experience and the ability to coach, mentor, and manage team performance
• the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people
• a genuine commitment to customer service
Strong written communication and confident verbal communication skills will be critical to your ability to lead effectively.
As a key team member at the PDS you will have access to a very successful three month induction programme for PDS administration staff, and will also be able to attend monthly training sessions. You will also work with other management streams in the business to continuously improve the organisation’s overall outcomes.
Salary is within the range of $63,000 - $75,000 - depending on skills and experience.
