The Waitangi Tribunal Unit provides support services to the Waitangi Tribunal which is tasked with inquiring into and reporting on claims submitted by Maori under the Treaty of Waitangi Act 1975.
The Principal Facilitator is responsible for leading the design, planning and delivery of large-scale, complex commission of inquiry processes and projects and providing high quality facilitation services in support of the Waitangi Tribunal’s strategic direction.
Strong candidates will have extensive experience in facilitation and project planning environments including managing multiple and complex stakeholder relationships. Experience in working with Maori is essential.
Although there are no line management accountabilities for this role, this is a leadership position and the Principal Facilitator is responsible for mentoring and coaching senior and less experienced employees.
Candidates should hold a qualification in Maori studies, history or a relevant discipline, and ideally will also have an understanding of, and commitment to, the work of the Waitangi Tribunal including knowledge of te reo, tikanga and matauranga Maori.
Salary band 87,193 - 117,967
