The Waitangi Tribunal Unit provides support services to the Waitangi Tribunal which is tasked with inquiring into and reporting on claims submitted by M ori under the Treaty of Waitangi Act 1975. Support services to the Tribunal include the co-ordination and management of research services to support the Tribunal’s commission of inquiry responsibilities.
We are looking for a skilled and experienced people leader who can inspire and lead a team of researchers across a range of both historical and contemporary inquiries. The successful candidate will offer extensive experience in planning and managing research resources, ideally in conjunction with knowledge of judicial processes and New Zealand’s constitutional framework.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an ability to develop and maintain stakeholder relationships, particularly with M ori groups and organisations, as well as sound knowledge of Government contracting processes. Importantly, they will be able to think strategically and laterally with proven intellectual agility and be prepared to work collaboratively as part of a senior leadership team. Ideally this candidate will also have a sound understanding of, and commitment to, the work of the Waitangi Tribunal including knowledge of te reo, tikanga and m tauranga M ori.
Salary Band: $100,575 - $136,071
